New guidelines - Foreign staff and the recruitment process

Foreign nationals who come here to work need to apply for a variety of permits and rights to be allowed to work here. In order to give employers an overview of what needs to be done and to facilitate access to information, the Tourism Competence Center, in collaboration with the Multicultural Center, SAF, ASÍ and tourism companies, has compiled guidelines for both parties to follow.

Different rules apply to foreign nationals depending on whether they come from a member state within or outside the EEA / EFTA, and the guidelines are set up accordingly. There you can also find useful information that can speed up the recruitment process and the employee's adjustment in the Icelandic labor market.

The material is available in a number of languages on the Hæfnisetur's website, hæfni.is. Employers are encouraged to refer their foreign employees to it for information and preparation. Employers should also familiarize themselves with the material so that they can be a source of support and trust for new employees in the recruitment process.

The guidelines were presented at the Tourism Morning Service, which took place recently.
